read through

Took place last week, over the weekend, and I'm pretty pleased with it.

The last of a foursome that came in an eight week rush, and I was expecting things to not be so nice. Yet, I was happily supposed, pleasantly pleased.

Now to let it sit for a bit, then to add a few details.

Otherwise, what a nice find.

done

Three chapters today and she's over and out. A longer novel, coming in just under 121K, and again, the ending was not what I had planned.

But as this was the third novel looking to go that way, I was better equipped to sort it.

Now to relax. No writing until November.

And we all know what that means... :)))

nearing the end

Another monster of a day, where all I did was write. Bob got our dinner from a nearby taqueria, carne asada burritos that are out of this world and HUGE!

Bob wasn't fond of the beans, but J helped me with mine, but better than her fast food fare.

I'm done for tonight. Maybe getting within a day or two of finishing this book.

I wish I could convey all this meant. It's hard to explain, how much of oneself is in a novel.

And how much sits on the edge.

And how much comes from the taqueria down the street.

Tonight, doing the final read thought was all on that burrito, massive! Grilled stead, rice, beans, cilantro, onions. The yummiest thing!

Now, to sort the tunes for tomorrow's walk, wash out the teapot for tomorrow's writing.

Can't write without the tea, or the tunes... Today's chapters brought to you by Roberta Flack, Elton John and The White Stripes.

harder than it looks

I wrote a lot today. I knew that was coming for early this morning.

Early as in before 5 AM. I started my walk at 4.45 AM, was home by 5.30. And so it begins.

I wanted to write three chapters. I say I wanted, but really it's hardly up to me.

Three chapters were written. Not easy, but difficult, emotionally charged, and now I'm so ready for bed.

If it means I'm again tomorrow at 4, well, just one of those jags.

And seeing I have a LOT to read over before tomorrow's work, I know what I can do...

Not walk. Only read...

fits and starts

A day for it! First my husband's car needed a jump, and while still dressed in my robe and PJ's, I did my part, seeing him off a few minutes later than usual.

No walk today, and after I got the kids to school, I went right to work. I had bits to attend, some hand wash that went out on the stand-up dryer once I had finished the first chapter. Then I chatted with a friend while clicking out the mistypings. Then, off to the store.

I haven't cooked in days. Bob BBQ'ed two days ago, but tonight it was my turn. Only chicken fried rice, so off to the store I drove, only picking up a cooked chicken, spring onions, carrots and a loaf of bread.

I get to my car and... It won't start. Will barely turn over. I did notice, when I started it to leave for the store, it sounded just the bit sluggish. Well, now it was useless. I rang my husband (thank goodness for taking my cell even to the store!) and we decided to leave my car in the lot. I could easily walk home, it's my morning route. Well, half of my route.

A warm day, but I didn't have much, and carried home the bags, along with my purse, muttering to myself. No, not at the rain that pours, but only characters, plots, ideas. I have an issue with car troubles, but it could have been worse. Real rain (yes it does rain in California, but not today), Bob away on a trip? But no, only my feet, roads I know well, some sun. The worst thing that might have happened was my head got a sunburn.

I don't think it did.

Arriving home I ate a bagel, thought about my adventures. Went back to work and got about a third of the second chapter written. Then Bob called. He was on his way home.

I wrote until he returned, with my car. He'd stopped there first, jumped it, and now we were to return for his car. Which we did, and mine seemed fine.

The rest of the afternoon was spent me writing, him taking a nap. He tried my car again, the battery dead. Off to get a new battery he went, put it in with our neighbor's help. So far, so good. We'll try it later, and HOPEFULLY that's it for my car.

As for his... Not sure.

The work was completed, and now, nearly 80K, the end is coming round. Maybe by the end of the week? Perhaps. Definitely by next week. Just in time to start the next project...

But that's for another blog!

every day is something new

Today my hubby stayed home, not feeling so well. I still managed to get two chapters written, but used the ear buds, as he watched TV shows of which I'm not fond.

He loves Everybody Hates Chris. I don't.

Football will be on soon, and I'm DONE! Going to eat some leftover BBQ for dinner, then sit to watch the Colts and Dolphins. I don't really care who wins, as long as it's a good game.

Then no football until Sunday. Sigh... Well, plenty of time to write, if nothing else.

And if (IF) I finish, maybe this weekend I'll only watch footie. Yes, that would be lovely.

We will see...

lovely Sunday

My team is playing well, just one reason it's a lovely Sunday.

It's also the day. Sundays are good days.

Also in getting two more chapters, that was lovely.

This book goes from day to day, post-it note to post-it note. Song to song, and I'm just writing as the words evolve. All I know to do.

I wonder if the rest of or some of my manuscripts are going to be written in this manner?

If so, that's okay. Once I know to let go and let God, well, no more needs to be known.

Know, no, know?
